Located in the heart of Wamego is a little bit of comfort with the Friendship House. This top-rated restaurant, bakery, and catering business offers patrons a different special every day as well as a bevy of baked goods.
“It’s all homemade goodness kind of like grandma would make,” said Mike Pray, part owner of the Friendship House.
Pray, along with his partner and chef Jake, revived the Friendship House 10 years ago, turning the former coffeehouse into a thriving business that caters to customers far and wide. There is something for everyone at the Friendship House, as customers are delighted to a 67-seat restaurant that was converted from an older home built in 1907.
Focusing on homemade food that delights the soul, the Friendship House has a team of bakers that come in each night to bake an assorted amount of pies, bread, cookies, Kolaches, muffins, and sweet rolls. These items fly off the shelf as customers can’t get enough of the “homemade goodness” the Friendship House offers.
Even the daily specials at the Friendship House are made from scratch including the popular ham and cheddar rolls that are served with a mild horseradish sauce every Tuesday. Customers would also be remiss if they didn’t try a gourmet burger from the restaurant as they are reminiscent of the good ole days and feature a freshly baked bun that literally melts when eaten.
Rated the No. 1 caterer in Manhattan two years prior, the Friendship House has a flourishing catering business that performed 35 weddings last year. The catering service is available for all occasions, offering a team of professional servers and food that will warm the soul.
“If you want to come in and have a friendly atmosphere with a phenomenal meal, come see the Friendship House,” Pray said. “You are going to go walking away with a smile and some baked goods to go.”
